Apple snail news
2013-09-01
It had been a while since the marisa cornuarietis had laid eggs. But in recent days, several clutches have been placed in a number of places in the aquarium. The eggs are placed under water, in contrast to the ordinary yellow apple snail that everyone knows and which puts its eggs above water. At the moment it remains to be seen whether youngsters will be born. Within this and a few days, the development of the young should become visible in the translucent eggs.
Relatively new to the collection is an African apple snail variety from the lanistes family. This species also lays eggs under water. They are three adult animals that seem to be doing well. It remains to be seen whether breeding can take place.
